Piercing Release Forms App Knowledge Base

Be brave, jump in, answers await you.

PRF App Settings

Settings: STUDIO Tab

Customize PRF with your basics: logo, studio information, piercers, health codes, and passcodes. This information will populate the final client release form.

SETTINGS allows studio management to customize PRF app. Six settings tabs intuitively organize the options.

STUDIO TAB

Studio Logo

On the left of the screen is an easy interface for loading your logo into PRF to brand it as your own. Your brand is visible throughout the client experience. AirDrop or take a well-framed landscape-mode photo of your logo with your iPad. Then, to your taste, edit the image in your favorite iPad image editor.

USE U.S ADDRESS FORMAT option

Your legal waivers and postal service require accurate studio addresses. PRF is ready to adapt to your region's US or non-US postal address formats. Check or uncheck this option; PRF will offer alternative formatting options for entering your non-US studio address.

MOST CLIENTS HAVE US ADDRESSES option

This question relates to the address format of most of your clients. If you are a studio in Barcelona, you’ll want your Spanish neighbors (most of your clients) to enter addresses in the address format of their region, not the default US format.

Each client can check or uncheck this option, overriding this setting so that most of your clients are covered.

Units

Select your studio's default unit of measurement for piercing jewelry. PRF will display all jewelry sizes in the unit you choose. The options are:

Hybrid: Posts in inches, tops in metric

Imperial: All measurements in inches

Metric: All measurements in millimeters

Piercer List

Correctly spell all piercers' legal names. Nicknames are not advised, as PRF app will generate a legal document you may later need.

Studio Credentials

Studio name, both popular and legal, address, and contact information, including proper website URL, official contact email, and phone number. The studio's legal name will auto-populate the LEGAL section of PRF. This must be entered correctly, including designations (such as LLC), to generate legally strong release forms. The PDF release forms generated by PRF will add PIERCING STUDIO after the legal name you enter. See an example waiver here.

Health Codes

All local and state health codes govern your studio. You might find these on your current release form. For updated codes, contact your attorney or local health department. (e.g. COMPLIES WITH 555-51C-5>55 CALIFORNIA CODE)

Security Passcodes

Two passcodes control this app: one for management and one for piercers.

Note that PRF app developers will NOT know this password.

If the passcode is lost, PRF app must be uninstalled and downloaded again, so keep it well.

Change the Master Passcode

The default Master Passcode is 1234, which can be changed at will. This code allows access to all features. However, it is only for management and limits piercers' access to PRF features. The Master Passcode is also a ‘skeleton key’ code, so management does not have to recall the Piercer Passcode.

Change the Piercer Passcode

Management chooses one passcode shared by all piercers. This allows piercers to access limited sections of the app. The Piercer Passcode does not allow access to vital admin features such as PURCHASES or PRF SETTINGS.

The Piercer Passcode provides access to:

  • The Piercer Notes Pane - previewing, notating, and signing waivers.

  • Searching for returning clients in the Returning Client Flow

  • The PRF Knowledge Base and Support interface

  • The PRF Privacy Policy

PRF APP LOGIN

This is a place for studio management to save the login method/credentials used to set up PRF. We find that many studios don't know this information, confuse passwords and accounts, or forget them. It is hard for us to offer technical support if we don't know 'who they are' by providing their official PRF login. This will be a Google or Apple ID address. Park it here during setup.

Devices

This section will show the UDID (Unique Device IDentifier), or fingerprint, of the device in use. It will also show the UDIDs of other iPads sharing the subscription, if applicable. Next to the UDIDs is a button that quickly copies that long number to paste into support requests.

Also note:

  • Remember, the Master Passcode is the only way to access Settings, not the Piercer Passcode. This is designed to prevent accidental or malicious tinkering by wayward staff.

  • Once you set up your PRF app just as you want it, with all of your piercers, legal clauses, logo, and tedious legal bits, PRF will automatically back it up for you using the login credentials you provided when you set it up. If you need to add another iPad or swap your old one for a new one, log in at startup, and your previous settings will await you, safe and sound.

FAQs: Studio Tab in PRF Settings

  • Q: What happens if I lose my Master Passcode?

A: If the Master Passcode is lost, PRF app must be uninstalled and downloaded again. Therefore, it is crucial to keep the Master Passcode in a safe place.

  • Q: What can piercers access with the Piercer Passcode?

A: The Piercer Passcode provides access to the Piercer Notes Pane (for previewing, notating, and signing waivers), searching for returning clients in the Returning Client Flow, the PRF Knowledge Base and Support interface, and the PRF Privacy Policy

  • Q: Are my entered settings backed up somehow?

A: Once you customize your PRF app with all your piercers, legal clauses, logo, and other details, PRF will automatically back up your settings based on the login credentials you provided during setup. If you need to add another iPad or replace an old one, log in at startup, and your previous settings will be ready for you.

  • Q: Can I use PRF app outside of the USA?

A: Yes! If your App Store shows PRF, you can download it. Also, you can set PRF to adapt to your regional address formatting in one tap, which allows both the studio and your clients to add their addresses in non-US address formatting.
