Piercing Release Forms App Settings: EDITORS Tab
Here, studio management can customize lists of the jewelry, health questions, and legal clauses used most often in your studio. After the client finishes, these lists are presented to the piercer in the Piercer Notes Pane. The piercer can then choose the jewelry used in each session. The lists built here help piercers make quick work of adding these items to the waiver, especially if required by law. "What gauge did I use in her last session?" is a question of the past.
PRF is friendly with all legitimate brands. We continually court brands to include them in our offerings to make your life easier. A rising tide raises all ships.
Protected behind your Master Passcode, the EDITORS tab is divided into three core management sections: Health Editor, Legal Editor, and Jewelry Editor.
Accessing the EDITORS Tab
Because these settings control medical screening questions, legal liability text, and inventory drop-downs, access requires administrative clearance:
From the Welcome Screen, tap the Menu Icon (three horizontal lines in the top-right corner) or tap the Settings Gear Icon in the bottom-left corner of any main screen.
Enter your Master Passcode (default is 1234).
Tap the EDITORS tab along the top navigation bar.
1. Health Editor
You have total control over the medical history and health disclosures you ask from clients during check-in. PRF comes preloaded with standard health conditions to get you up and running, but you can tailor every single item to match your local health board rules or shop preferences.
Tap EDIT HEALTH QUESTIONS to open configuration:
Basic Health Inputs:
Present Medications Input: Flip this switch to gold to prompt clients to list any medications they are currently taking.
Present Time of Last Meal Input: Flip this switch to gold to ask clients when they last ate (crucial for preventing lightheadedness or fainting in the chair).
Core Health Lists: Tap into any of the three main health categories to customize the specific items clients see:
ALLERGIES LIST (e.g., latex, nickel, rubbing alcohol, adhesives)
DISEASES LIST (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, hepatitis, HIV)
HEALTH CONDITIONS LIST (e.g., hemophilia, diabetes, skin conditions, pregnancy)
How to edit lists: Tap the eye icon next to any item to show or hide it from clients. A gold eye means the question is active and visible; a grey slashed eye means it is hidden. Tap + ADD NEW to create your own condition, or tap the red trash can to delete an item entirely.
Additional Health Questions: If your local health inspector requires a specific question not covered in the default lists, you can build your own custom prompts:
Tap Manage Questions under ADDITIONAL HEALTH QUESTIONS.
Type your question into the text box.
Select Question Type: Choose Text (for typed written answers) or Number (for numeric inputs).
Tap + ADD QUESTION, then tap DONE.
Saving Health Changes: When you finish updating health items, scroll to the bottom and tap SAVE. A confirmation box will pop up; tap SAVE again to lock in your changes.
2. Legal Editor
Your release form needs to protect your specific business, studio name, and piercers. PRF comes preloaded with battle-tested standard piercing liability clauses, but you have full freedom to add, edit, or rewrite any clause to match your legal team's advice.
Tap EDIT LEGAL CLAUSES to open legal setup:
Pro-Tip for Fast Setup: Type or edit all your legal text in a cloud document on your iPad (like Apple Notes or Google Docs) first. Then simply copy and paste the text directly into the PRF app fields.
Auto-Insert Studio Name: Type <YourStudioName> (including the brackets) anywhere in your text. PRF will automatically swap that tag for your actual shop name on the finished client PDF.
Bold Formatting Tag: Use <B>
before a word or phrase and </B> right after it to make that text print in bold on the final PDF (e.g., ALL SALES FINAL ON JEWELRY).
Managing Your Clauses:
Edit: Tap any existing clause to open the text editor, adjust your wording, and hit SAVE.
Add New: Tap + ADD NEW CLAUSE, paste your text, and tap SAVE.
Delete: Tap the red trash can next to any clause to remove it.
Restore Defaults: Made a mistake or want to start fresh? Tap RESTORE DEFAULT CLAUSES to reset your legal text back to PRF's factory setup.
Automatic Minor vs. Adult Waiver Swapping: You never need to manage separate paperwork for minors and adults. PRF handles age checks automatically! When a client inputs a birthdate showing they are under 18, PRF automatically swaps out the adult contract and displays the dedicated Minor & Guardian Legal Clause built in your Legal Editor. The app also flags the piercer in the Piercer Notes Pane with a clear alert so staff verify parent/guardian presence and ID paperwork.
3. Jewelry Editor
When a piercer completes a procedure, they open the Piercer Notes Pane to document the exact jewelry and supplies installed. Setting up your shop's stock lists in advance keeps intake fast and accurate.
Tap EDIT JEWELRY LIST to manage your drop-down menus:
Tap into any category header (such as Gem Color, Material like Implant-Grade Titanium or 14k Gold, or Threading/Style like Threadless, Internal, or External).
Tap + ADD NEW to type in specific brands, gauge sizes, mill sizes, or threadless tops your shop carries.
Tap the red trash can next to discontinued stock or brands you no longer carry so piercers don't select them by mistake.
Tap DONE, then hit SAVE at the bottom of the screen when finished.
Locking In Your Setup
When you finish dialing in your EDITORS tab, tap the gold SAVE & VERIFY button in the bottom-left sidebar. The app will save your health questions, legal clauses, and jewelry menus, back them up to your studio's cloud connection, and take you right back to the Welcome Screen—ready for your next client!
